Month in Review: May 2008

Welcome to Month in Review: May 2008, documenting events for our family history.

  • I had a great time at Women's Conference at BYU with my mom, sisters, and cousin Kelly. It was fun to be back on campus.
  • Chris officially graduated with his MBA. He had already finished classes in March, and we already celebrated with our Baseball trip last month. But of course, it couldn't hurt to celebrate by eating out one more time, right?
  • Tommy (6) gave a speech in school about the Australian lyrebird, whose main talent is mimicking practically any sound--other birds, cameras, even chainsaws! (Check out this great clip we found.)
  • Chris took a business trip to San Francisco to certify to teach Crucial Conversations, a business communications course. Of course he had time for a little food and fun while he was away.
  • The kids and I had fun at a our Ward Carnival--basically a parking lot full of activities like a Cake Walk, Temporary Tattoos, General Conference Bingo, a Ring Toss, and more.
  • Apparently we can't get enough of the free carnivals, so we found another one to attend at Wheeler Farms. The kids loved the train ride, but they didn't love being shoved down the shark (inflatable) slide by a "really big kid."
  • Our good friends Scott & Lisa visited for a night of fun and games... a tribute to the good ol' days when we lived nearer to each other. We were especially excited to finally meet their beautiful daughter.
  • Chris started playing stake (church) softball. I take the kids sometimes; we enjoy the free nachos provided by the host stake (score!)
  • I finally made good on my promise to set it up, and Chris started private Guitar Lessons. Kurt Cobain can now live on through him, much to our neighbors' joy, I'm sure.

Worths at Women's Conference

I had the great opportunity of attending Women's Conference at BYU last weekend. My mom, Stephanie, Karen, and Stacy, and cousin Kelly went too, and we all stayed at the dorms. The campus continues to grow and change, so that was interesting to see. It was a great chance to spend time together, hear inspiring messages, and "fill our cups." We also did a fair amount of shopping, eating, and gabbing late into the night--not to mention being entertained by Stephanie's impressive Yoga poses.

A huge thanks to an amazing husband who is always supportive of me spending a little time away. It was so nice that I didn't have to do anything special to prepare the house for him, or give him detailed instructions. As always, he did a great job with the kids and I came home to a nice, clean house.
