I feel your pain, we just switched service to Cingular, Brad got the new fancy-dancy Blackberry, 'cuz GE pays for it, I had to get the free phone. It's is a cute pink RAZR, but that is SO last year! (it was one of those- let's see how it goes then you can upgrade type agreements, but really once you get everythinng set up and actually know how your phone works you never will make the switch unles it breaks!) What a jip!

I admit it; apparently Chris's tendency to purposely irritate people is rubbing off on me. I knew people would go crazy hearing that he had a phone/PDA and I didn't. Like he said, his work pays for his (and while it's true he doesn't use all the features, he uses the phone, email, and calendar extensively). Other people are wondering why I have to ask his permission to buy something. This has nothing to do with him being the husband; neither of us would make a purchase like this without the other person being ok with it. His idea for me to write a proposal was just a creative way for us to discuss the pros and cons (and a sneaky way for him to post it all). Anyone who understands my strong-willed tendencies (=general bossiness) knows that I would never get along with a husband who truly thought he could control me or write up a performance appraisal. Neither Chris nor I are truly at odds on this topic; we are just having fun opening up our discussion to the public.

This is madness. Work pays for my phone, not me. I can't even justify having it since I don't utilize the features. Nancy conveniently left that part out. Once she can juggle 1 phone without losing it I will consider something more advanced. As I said on my post, if Nancy thinks this will enable her to be a better "secretary," I will start holding her accountable to those standards. Look forward to a Wife Performance Appraisal. I will make this available to all of the husbands out there that just don't know how to hold their wives accountable.

We are well here in CA. I'm expecting Baby #4 in January! We'll now have 2 girls and 2 boys.

Um, I think you know this is making me cringe. You are saying that your husband has a phone/PDA (does work provide this?) and he made you write a proposal to determine if you "deserve" one. I'd like to see anyone juggle three kids and a dependent spouse and the responsibilities that go along with that, and not accidentally lose something. You don't need a "trial run", as suggested by the obviously male poster, Nancy. You can get insurance for those kinds of accidents.

First I am in favor of Nancy receiving a cell phone and I have voted the "phone only" option in the poll. The argument for safety is a compelling one.

Having said that, I understand that Nancy has a history of losing phones, not once, but twice. I do not think an additional investment in a Treo would be a good one until it can be demonstrated that proper care can be taken with a telephonic device that includes getting used to carrying one.

You can get a prepaid phone from Walmart for $18.00. Let me propose that Nancy get a cheaper phone for a time and when it can be demonstrated that the phone is in good hands, talk about an upgrade.
